SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/10e new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that, when entering judgment for reasonable attorney's fees in any case arising under the Act in which the prevailing party is permitted to recover reasonable attorney's fees, the court shall use the Laffey Matrix prepared by the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and adjusted using the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the Washington-Baltimore area. Excludes cases in which the hourly rate for attorney's fees is limited by statute.

1    AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by adding Section 10e as follows:
 
6    (815 ILCS 505/10e new)
7    Sec. 10e. Attorney's fees; Laffey Matrix.
8    (a) When entering judgment for reasonable attorney's fees
9in any case arising under this Act in which the prevailing
10party is permitted to recover reasonable attorney's fees, the
11court shall use the Laffey Matrix prepared by the Civil
12Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the
