AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1155

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1155, AS AMENDED, by
3inserting the following in its proper numeric sequence:
 
4    "Section 75. Firearm liability insurance.
5    (a) Any person with a handgun carry license under this Act
6shall maintain a policy of liability insurance in the amount of
7at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages
8resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of
9the firearm while it is owned by that person. A person shall be
10deemed the owner of a firearm after the firearm is lost or
11stolen until the loss or theft is reported to the police
12department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner
13resides.
14    (b) If the Department of State Police finds that the person
15to whom the license was issued possesses or acquires a firearm
16and does not submit evidence to the Department that he or she
17has been issued in his or her name a liability insurance policy

1in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any
2damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the
3use of the firearm while it is owned by that person, the
4Department shall revoke and seize the person's:
5        (1) handgun carry license previously issued under this
6    Act; and
7        (2) Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously
8        issued under the Firearm Owners Identification Card
9        Act.
10    (c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules
11necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.".
