SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Eugene O. Adkins of
4Carlinville, who passed away on November 21, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins was born in Saint Louis, Missouri,
6to Eugene Monroe and Audrie Barringer Adkins; he graduated from
7Saint Louis University with a degree in biology and chemistry
8in 1949; he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps and worked for
9Anheuser-Busch in the New York area; he married Claire Ann
10Kiely on August 2, 1952; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins settled in Carlinville and was a
12farmer and co-owner of Adkins & Marko Construction; he was
13involved in several community ventures, including the Lions
14Club, Jaycees, the Macoupin 912 group, the Ss. Mary and Joseph
15Building Committee, and the boards of Carlinville Public
16Schools and Farmers and Merchants Bank; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins enjoyed spending time with his wife,
18playing racquetball, tennis, having coffee with the "Macoupin
19County Yacht Club", and spending time with family and friends;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eugene Adkins is survived by his children, Barry

1Adkins, Chris (Bob) Mathias, David (Gail), and Jim (Ellen)
2Adkins; his grandchildren, Lexy and Audrie Adkins, Steve,
3Claire, Mary Beth, and Susie Mathias, Jeff and Greg Adkins, and
4Ian and Brennan Adkins; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Eugene Adkins, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Eugene Adkins as a symbol of our
12deepest sympathy.
