SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of John B. Gerber of
4Carlinville, who passed away on August 5, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gerber was born on January 30, 1916, in
6Carlinville to Charles Henry and Agnus Martha Gerber (nee
7Boente); he graduated from Carlinville High School in 1936, and
8was in the U.S. Army Air Force Air Transport Command from 1942
9to 1945, serving in Europe, Asia, and Africa; he married
10Dorothy Drury on December 23, 1945, in Washington, D.C.; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Gerber started off as a partner in running a
12grocery store before he began running a Mobil oil and gasoline
13distributorship, which he operated until his retirement in
141976; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Gerber was a member of St. Mary and Joseph
16Catholic Church in Carlinville and was an active member of the
17Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412, Guy Baird American Legion Post
18#544, the Country Kuzins Square Dancing Club, and the
19Carlinville Wing RV Camping Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Gerber was preceded in death by his wife,
21Dorothy; his son, Jeremy Gerber; his brother, Charles Gerber;

1and his sisters, Agnes Tipps and Marjorie Repasky; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Gerber is survived by his children, Donna
3(Carl) Kasten, Mary Therese Gerber, and Dennis Gerber; his
4grandchildren, Heather DeNeve, Toni Gotcher, Nathan Gerber,
5and Martin Kasten; his 8 great-grandchildren; and several
6nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9John Gerber, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John Gerber as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
