SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Claribelle Miller of Carlinville, who
4passed away on September 30, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller was born on October 12, 1920;
6her parents were Carlton VanWinkle and Marie (Krueger) Otwell;
7she married C. Robert Miller on March 14, 1943, in Carlinville;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller graduated from Carlinville High
10School with the class of 1938; she subsequently graduated from
11Blackburn College and attended Southern Illinois University in
12Edwardsville; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller began her teaching career in a
14one-room schoolhouse; she later taught kindergarten, 4th, and
156th grades for the Carlinville School District Unit #1; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller was a member of the Macoupin
17County D.A.R., the Macoupin County Alpha Delta Kappa, the
18Carlinville Women's Club, Carlinville Retired Teachers, the
19United Methodist Women, the Macoupin County Home Bureau,
20Macoupin County 4-H, and the Macoupin County Fair, where she
21was in charge of the fine arts department for several years;

2    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller was preceded in death by her
3parents; her husband; her granddaughter; Kimberly Sawyer; and
4her sister, Winifred Selvo; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Claribelle Miller is survived by her loving
6daughters, Mary Katherine Solberg (Arthur), Robin Ann Shuda,
7Suzanne Marie Humphreys (David), Gail Alden Stump, and Rebecca
8Lynn Glenn; her grandchildren, Annelise and Erik Solberg,
9Curtis Sawyer (Michelle), Cary Sawyer (Michelle), K.C. Strough
10(Steve), Edward Stump, William Stump (Shari), Katie, Justine,
11Davis, and Deirdre Humphreys, Emily Wilson (Alex), Audra Essig
12(Joseph), and Jacob Glenn; her great-grandchildren, Anika
13Marie Sawyer, Robert Cole Sawyer, Alexander Strough, Mackenzie
14Strough, and Tarah Patterson; her sister, Marguerite Burton;
15and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18her family and friends, the passing of Claribelle Miller; and
19be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Claribelle Miller as an expression
22of our sympathy.
