SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of John "Jack" Serdar of Zion,
4who passed away on October 2, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Serdar was born on December 19, 1935, to Jack
6T. and Margaret Serdar in Waukegan; he graduated from Waukegan
7High School and attended the University of Illinois at
8Champaign and Northern Illinois University; he married Ruth
9Gilbertson; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Serdar raised his family in Zion and he
11attended the Grace Missionary Church; he served as an Awana
12Leader for many years and helped restore cabins at Camp Awana
13in Fredona, Wisconsin; he loved following his grandsons play
14rugby and football and did not let a day go by without asking
15about his granddaughters; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Serdar was an avid carpenter and woodworker;
17he built homes, furniture, and cabinetry throughout northern
18Illinois; he served as Benton Township Trustee; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jack Serdar was preceded in death by his parents,
20Jack T. and Margaret Serdar and his brothers-in-law, James
21Skof, Ken Aalund, and Rodney Friedrich; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Serdar is survived by his wife of 55 years,
2Ruth; his children, Cindy (Rick) Doering, Scott (Maria) Serdar,
3and Bill (Barbara) Sterchi; his grandchildren, Kelly, Dan
4(Shana), and Tyler Doering, Jonathan (Sara Rzepkowski), and
5Robert and Sarah Serdar; his sisters, Margaret (Larry) Zanco,
6MaryAnn Skof, and Lorrie Aalund; his sister-in-law, Naomi
7Friedrich; his nieces and nephews, Wayne (Karen), Greg (Paula)
8Friedrich, Sheree (Bill) Swaney, Mike (Kathryn Lafferty) and
9Pam Zanco, Bryan (Jackie), Bruce (Joann), and Brad (Joann)
10Skof; his aunts, Vi Anderson, Bernice Bittner, and Ann
11McClosky; his uncles, Bob (Delores) Serdar and Fred Berghorn;
12and many cousins and grand-nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Jack Serdar, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jack Serdar as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
