SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. John M. "Jack" Abell of Aurora, who
4passed away on October 27, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. John Abell was born on September 29, 1921, in
6Aurora to Mary Ann and William Abell and lived in Aurora all of
7his life; he graduated from Marmion Military Academy,
8Benedictine University, and the University of Illinois Medical
9School; he married Patricia Brennan; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. John Abell was a member of the Lay Association
11of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, Holy Angels Church, Serra
12Club of Aurora, and the Kane County Medical Society; he was an
13honorary staff member of Provena Mercy Medical Center and
14Rush-Copley Medical Center; he interned at the U.S. Naval
15Hospital in San Diego, California and was in the Navy Reserve
16until 1982; he joined Dreyer Medical Clinic in 1950 and retired
17in 1986; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. John Abell was preceded in death by his
19grandson, Kevin Bryant; his parents, Mary Ann and William
20Abell; his sisters, May Dickes and Patricia Abell; and his
21brother, William Abell; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. John Abell is survived by his wife, Patricia
2(Brennan) Abell; his children, Michael (Janice) Abell, Martha
3(Richard) Rode, Theresa (John) Bryan, and Timothy Abell; and
4his grandchildren, Timothy and Michaela Rode, Cameron Abell,
5Jeffrey and Nathan Abell, and Patrick, Michael, David, and Mary
6Kate Bryant; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Dr. John Abell, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dr. John Abell as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
