SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Bob G. Churchich of
4Edwardsville, who passed away on July 24, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Churchich was born on September 7, 1928, in
6Alton, to Nick and Helen Marie (Dugan) Churchich; he married
7Jeanie Beiser on July 22, 1945; he married Ruth (Frey) Straube
8on October 28, 1989; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Churchich worked for the Standard Oil Company
10in Wood River; in 1958, he was hired by the Alton Police
11Department, serving as corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant; he
12became police chief of Hartford in May 1980, and retired in
131986; he was elected Madison County Sheriff in 1986, and
14retired in 2002; he served on the Madison County Board from
151984 to 1986; he was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church
16in Edwardsville; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bob Churchich was preceded in death by his
18parents, Nick and Helen Churchich; his wife, Jeanie Beiser; and
19his sister-in-law, Joan Accario; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Churchich is survived by his wife, Ruth
21Straube; his daughters, Carolyn (Tom) Fahnestock and Deborah

1(David) Williams; his grandchildren, Ann Marie (David) Voss,
2Michael (Andrea) Fahnestock, and Timothy (Amy) Fahnestock; his
3eight great-grandchildren; his three stepdaughters, Vicky
4(Anthony) Audo, Irene (Joe) Mullenschlader, and Peggy (Steve)
5Yates; his stepson, William L. Straube; his 11
6step-grandchildren; his 12 step-great-grandchildren; one
7brother, Jim (Doris) Churchich; and his three brothers-in-law,
8Michael Accario, Bob (Margaret) Frey, and Ray (Kay)
9Fitzpatrick; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Bob Churchich, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to his family as an expression of our sympathy.
