SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edgar W. Pigg of Lake Bluff, who passed
4away on May 17, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edgar Pigg was born on February 19, 1926, in Dade
6City, Florida; he was raised in Nashville, Tennessee and had
7lived in Lake Bluff since 1966; and
 
8    WHEREAS, After high school, Edgar Pigg enlisted in the
9United States Navy, serving on the USS Satago during World War
10II; in 1951, he graduated from Vanderbilt University in
11Nashville; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edgar Pigg had a long and distinguished career in
13auto sales; he began his career with Studebaker and later
14became the owner of a Volkswagen dealership in Waukegan; in
151985, he retired and soon after joined his longtime friend in
16business at J.C. Forney and Co. Real Estate in Libertyville;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Edgar Pigg was a former member of the Lake Bluff
19Police Commission and past president of the Lake County Chamber
20of Commerce; he was involved in the Lake County Chaplaincy
21Program, the Ralph Smith Foundation, and many aspects of the

1Methodist Church; he was a member of Grace United Methodist
2Church in Lake Bluff and served on the board of the United
3Methodist Foundation; he was a very active rotarian, past
4president of the Waukegan Rotary Club, and district governor
5for #6440 from 1985 to 1986; he was honored as a Paul Harris
6Fellow; he was also a member of the Lake Bluff American Legion
7Post #510 and the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Edgar Pigg was preceded in death by his parents,
9C.E. and Noi Pigg, and his brothers, Eugene and Robert; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edgar Pigg is survived by his loving wife of 58
11years, Henrietta Pigg; his children, Katherine (Fred) Boebel
12III, Edgar (Barbara) Pigg, Jr., and David (Marguerite) Pigg;
13his grandchildren, Frederick IV, Katherine, Carolyn, Robert,
14David Jr., and Emma; his sisters, Mary Hartnett and Addie
15Martin; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18his family and friends, the passing of Edgar W. Pigg; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Edgar Pigg as an expression of our
22sympathy.
