SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leroy E. Fritz of Godfrey, who passed
4away on April 18, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Belleville, on November 14, 1923,
6the son of the late Albert and Anna (Feder) Fritz; he married
7Carol Stillwell Teichmann on August 5, 1995; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Army
9during World War II in the 745 Tank Battalion, in the 1st
10Infantry Division; he fought at the Battle of the Bulge; he
11also served at the Remagen Bridgehead, earned 3 campaign stars,
12the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He received his college and graduate degrees from
14Western Kentucky University, George Peabody College, and
15Southern Illinois University; he was employed as a teacher and
16administrator for the Alton Community Unit School District for
1732 years, retiring in 1981; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Evangelical United Church
19of Christ, where he sang in the choir; he played the violin in
20the Alton Civic Orchestra and was on the boards of the Alton
21Symphony and the Alton Youth Symphony; he was also a member of

1the Alton School Board and was a piano technician and tuner for
2many years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Leroy Fritz is survived by his wife, Carol; his
5daughter and her spouse, Ruth and Chad Fisher; his sons and
6their spouses, William and Mari Fritz, Robert and Doreen Fritz,
7and John and Tacie Fritz; his stepsons and their spouses, Scott
8and Sandy Teichmann and Keith and Rita Teichmann; his 11
9grandchildren; his 4 step-grandchildren; his 8
10great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lloyd Fritz; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Leroy Fritz; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Leroy Fritz as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
