SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter C. Taylor of Chillicothe, who
4passed away on March 23, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Taylor was born on October 22, 1956, in
6Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Nathaniel Taylor, Jr. and Rebecca
7Wilkins Taylor; he married his wife, Gretchen, 20 years ago;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Peter Taylor was baptized at the Great King David
10Church in Baton Rouge; he graduated from Southern University in
11Baton Rouge; he was a lifetime member of the Scotlandville High
12School and Southern University Marching Bands; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Peter Taylor was recruited by Caterpillar
14directly upon graduation and that brought him to Central
15Illinois; he continued to be employed at Caterpillar; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Peter Taylor was admired and loved by all; he was
17fondly known as "Uncle Pete" by children young and old; he
18would often say that while he and Gretchen had no children of
19their own, they had lots of children through his family, both
20blood and chosen; he loved to fish, smoke his cigars, and drink
21coffee at Starbucks; he was known far and wide for his "magic

1vest"; and
 
2    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father; his
3sister, L. Joyce Taylor-Hayes; his grandfather and namesake,
4Peter Wilkins; and his grandparents, Nathaniel and Geneva
5Taylor; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Peter Taylor is survived by his wife, Gretchen;
7his mother Rebecca Taylor; his sister, Marie Terry-Harris
8(Michael); brother, Nathaniel Taylor III; his sister-in-law,
9Marianne Stipe (Marty); his mother-in-law, Jacqueline Righter;
10his nephew, Eric Stipe; his nieces, Anna Stipe, Natalie Estelle
11(Anthony), Mikelle Harris, Corey St. Michael (Cameron), Annie
12Cunningham; great-nephew, Calvin St. Michael; and aunts,
13Sylvia Washington and Rita Wilson; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we mourn, along
16with his family and friends, the passing of Peter Taylor; and
17be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Peter Taylor as a symbol of our
20sincere sympathy.
