SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leo Louis Brianza of Sun Lakes, Arizona,
4formerly of Carlinville, who passed away on February 20, 2012;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was born October 10, 1922 in Maryville, the son
7of Valario "Tom" and Katrina Mary Bugni Brianza; he married
8Margie Eleanor Jones; she passed away in 1980; he later married
9Frances Brianza in 1981; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He graduated from Carlinville High School and
11attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he
12played on the tennis team and participated in track, holding a
13longtime record in the discus; he served in World War II in the
14United States Navy, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was the owner of Brianza Clothing Store and L&M
17Vending; he was a sales representative for CISCO Steel, Prairie
18Grove Company, and Valley Steel; and
 
19    WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion Post #554 and
20the Carlinville Park Board, serving as president and leading
21the building of the Carlinville Public Pool; he was a fast ball

1pitcher in church and men's leagues; and he enjoyed bowling and
2basketball, gardening, mushroom hunting, cooking, and wine
3making; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Leo Brianza is survived by his wife, Frances; his
5daughters, Terry and Sherry; his stepson, Thomas (Lori) Stiles;
6his stepdaughter, Janis (David) Mathis; and his
7step-grandchildren, Shannon (Christa) Stiles and Shawn (April)
8Stiles; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Leo Brianza; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Leo Brianza as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
