SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patrick "Pat" Nelson, who passed away on
4March 10, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was born on December 6, 1936; he
6was the son of the late Eugene Patrick and Lydia Nelson; he
7married Susanne Cusack on August 2, 1958, at St. Bernard Church
8in Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson graduated from Bradley University
10with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson served his country as an officer in
12the United States Air Force; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson retired from Shell Oil Company in
14Wood River after 35 years of service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was a member of St. Boniface
16Catholic Church in Edwardsville; he was a professed Secular
17Franciscan and a member of Our Lady of the Angels Fraternity in
18Edwardsville and served as Minister of Our Lady of the Angels
19Fraternity for 6 years; he was a member of the Knights of
20Columbus Council No. 1143; he was also honored by the Vatican

1by being named a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy
2Sepulchre of Jerusalem; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson was preceded in death by his
4daughter, Kathleen Nelson; his sisters, Jacqueline Coyle and
5Eileen Brown; and his brother, Buddy Nelson; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Patrick Nelson is survived by his sons, Patrick J.
7Nelson, Jr. and wife Melissa, Daniel E. Nelson and wife Karie,
8and James T. Nelson and Kathryn J. Marks; his daughters,
9Maureen D. Schuette and husband Greg, Christine M. Nelson, and
10Laurie E. Bonk and husband Alan; his sister, Gayle Rogy; and
11his 13 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Patrick "Pat" Nelson;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Patrick Nelson as an expression of
18our sympathy.
