SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Buford "Boots" Walters of Alton, who
4passed away on October 29, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in February 1917 in Terre Haute,
6Indiana, the son of the late Curtis A. and Ethyl (Reese)
7Walters; he married Irene Henkhaus on September 4, 1940, at St.
8Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He graduated from high school and attended
10Shurtleff College before going to work at Shell Oil Co. and St.
11Frances Convent in Alton; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic
13Church, and will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband,
14father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to
15many; he enjoyed sports, travel, and loved to sing; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents;
17his sister, Edna Reuter; and his brothers, Darrel, Joe, and
18Leland Walters; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Buford Walters is survived by his children and
20their spouses, Sue Goessling and John, Sharon Jun and Richard,

1Mary Jo Keenan and Jim, David Walters, Nancy Green and Phil,
2Teresa Back and Brian, and Jeffery Walters and Mary; his
3grandchildren, Mark Goessling, Sheri Lynn Elfreich, Steve,
4Scott, and Rick Jun, Susie Silberhorn, Jim, Mike, and Joe
5Keenan, Sara Johnson, Amy and Adam Welch, Monica Johnson, Laura
6Laird, Lisa Back, and Kenny and Allison Walters; and his 32
7great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Buford Walters; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Buford Walters as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
