SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Cleaven "Cleave" Singleton of Chicago,
4who passed away on September 14, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on August 5, 1931 to Cary and Denotra
6Spencer Singleton in Carthage, Mississippi; he graduated from
7Pilgrim Rest Elementary School and Warnet Grove High School;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, He married Dorothy Harris (Singleton) on December
106, 1969 in Reno, Nevada; and
 
11    WHEREAS, He was a member of Victory Apostolic Church, led
12by his nephew, founder and Senior Pastor Andrew D. Singleton;
13he participated with the Seniors Small Group Ministry at the
14church; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He was employed with Trans World Airlines for over
1635 years, retiring in 1989; he was an avid football player and
17loved to travel; he also loved to dance; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
19sister, Katie Pearl; and his brother, John; and

1    WHEREAS, Cleaven "Cleave" Singleton is survived by his son,
2Cleaven, Jr. (Seliece); his daughters, Monica Barber (Don) and
3Wendy Anderson; his siblings, Andrew D. Singleton, Sr. (Maggie
4Mozell), Emma Pitts, Walter Singleton (Bernice), and Dorothy
5Harris (James); his grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Mercedes,
6and Makayla Singleton, Jamoni Barber and Michael Anderson; his
7great-grandchildren, Brielle and Milan Singleton; and a host of
8nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Cleaven "Cleave"
12Singleton; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Cleaven "Cleave" Singleton as a
15symbol of our sincere sympathy.
