SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hallie Amey, who passed away on July 19,
42011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hallie Amey was born on March 24, 1922, in
6Mississippi; in 1951, she moved with her husband and children
7to Wentworth Gardens, where she lived and worked for the
8betterment of the Wentworth community into her senior years;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Hallie Amey served as a resident commissioner with
11the Chicago Housing Authority; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As a longtime community activist, Hallie Amey
13helped bring much needed services, including a store, a
14pre-school program, and youth activities, to the residents of
15Wentworth Gardens; she served as the president of the Wentworth
16Garden Resident Management Corporation, secretary of the Local
17Advisory Council, and a board member of the Beatrice Caffrey
18Youth Services Center, the Chicago Area Project, and Friends of
19the Park; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Hallie Amey is survived by her daughters, Frankie
21Amey, Ethel Amey-Robinson, Victoria Amey-Flippin, and Velma

1Amey; her four grandchildren; and her five
2great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5her family and friends, the passing of Hallie Amey; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Hallie Amey as an expression of our
9sympathy.
