SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Russell Gene Pollitt of Danville, who
4passed away on June 6, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt was born on June 7, 1932, in
6Danville; his parents were Russell L. and Clara N. Pollitt; he
7married Sue McQuown on August 15, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt graduated from Danville High
9School in 1950; he subsequently attended the University of
10Illinois until he was called to serve in the United States
11Army; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Following his stint in the Army, Russell Pollitt
13was employed as a sales representative for General Electric
14from 1955 to 1987; he then became the southern U.S. regional
15sales manager for Valmont's ballast department until his
16retirement in 1998; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt was a member of Second Church of
18Christ in Danville and the Kiwanis Noon Club; he was a past
19president of the Red Mask Theater; he also served on the
20Vermilion County Board and was a past board member for the
21Salvation Army and the Women's Care Clinic; and

1    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt was an avid sports fan and enjoyed
2the Cincinnati Reds, the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks, the
3Danville Dans, and the Danville Vikings; he also enjoyed
4attending the Danville Symphony Orchestra events, reading
5books, playing bridge, talking politics, and spending time with
6his kids and grandkids; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Russell Pollitt is survived by his wife; his son,
10Jeffrey Pollitt; his daughters, Kim (Gene) Grubb and Deb
11(Randy) Brinegar; his grandchildren, Amy (Neal) George, Aaron
12Brinegar, Emily (Daniel) Chappell, Sarah (Zach) Elbers, Mike
13Grubb, Danielle Grubb, Katelyn Grubb, and Drew Grubb; and his
14great-granddaughter, Kate George; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17his family and friends, the passing of Russell Gene Pollitt;
18and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Russell Pollitt as an expression of
21our sympathy.
