AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3380

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3380 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act is
5amended by changing Sections 2-3 and 2-4 as follows:
 
6    (430 ILCS 85/2-3)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 4053)
7    Sec. 2-3. There is hereby created the Carnival-Amusement
8Safety Board, hereafter in this Act referred to as the "Board",
9to consist of 9 8 members. One member shall be the Director.
10Eight Seven members shall be appointed by the Governor with the
11advice and consent of the Senate. The term of members shall be
124 years, except that of those members initially appointed by
13the Governor, 1 shall be appointed for 3 years and 1 shall be
14appointed for 4 years, and of the members initially appointed
15pursuant to this amendatory Act of 2006, 1 shall be appointed
16for 3 years. Of the 8 7 appointed members of the Board, 2 1

1shall be operators an operator of amusement rides, 1 shall be a
2registered professional engineer, 1 shall represent the
3insurance industry, and 4 1 shall represent the general public.
4The Board shall advise the Department on carnival and amusement
5safety matters.

8    Sec. 2-4. A majority of the 9 8 members of the Board
9constitutes a quorum. The Board shall meet at least twice
10yearly and at the call of the chairman or by written request of
11at least 5 members. The Board shall elect a chairman and such
12other officers as it deems necessary to perform its duties
13between meetings and may hire such clerical and administrative
14help as it deems necessary, to be paid out of the appropriation
15to the Board.

17    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18becoming law.".
