AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2837

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2837 on page 5, by
3replacing line 20 with the following:
4    "(c-3) The General Assembly recognizes the need to identify
5military veterans living in this State for the purpose of
6ensuring that they receive all of the services and benefits to
7which they are legally entitled, including healthcare,
8education assistance, and job placement. To assist the State in
9identifying these veterans and delivering these vital services
10and benefits, the Secretary of State is authorized to issue
11Illinois Identification Cards and Illinois Disabled Person
12Identification Cards with the word "veteran" appearing on the
13face of the cards. This authorization is predicated on the
14unique status of veterans. The Secretary may not issue any
15other identification card which identifies an occupation,
16status, affiliation, hobby, or other unique characteristics of
17the identification card holder which is unrelated to the
18purpose of the identification card.

1    (c-5) Beginning on or before July 1, 2015, the Secretary of
2State shall designate a space on"; and
 
3on page 7, by replacing line 21 with the following:
4    "(b) Beginning on or before July 1, 2015, for each original
5or renewal identification card"; and
 
6on page 8, by inserting below line 3 the following:
7    "The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs shall
8confirm the status of the applicant as an honorably discharged
9veteran before the Secretary may issue the identification
10card."; and
 
11on page 28, by replacing line 9 with the following:
12    "(e) Beginning on or before July 1, 2015, for each original
13or renewal driver's license"; and
 
14on page 28, by inserting below line 17 the following:
15    "The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs shall
16confirm the status of the applicant as an honorably discharged
17veteran before the Secretary may issue the driver's license.";
18and
 
19on page 33, by replacing line 19 with the following:
20    "(e-3) The General Assembly recognizes the need to identify
