AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1615

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1615 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Alternate Fuels Act is amended by changing
5Section 20 as follows:
 
6    (415 ILCS 120/20)
7    Sec. 20. Rules. Rules implementing Section 30 of this Act
8shall include, but are not limited to, calculation of fuel cost
9differential rebates and and designation of acceptable
10conversion and OEM technologies.
11    In designating acceptable conversion or OEM technologies,
12the Agency shall favor, when available, technology that is in
13compliance with the federal Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990
14and applicable implementing federal regulations. Conversion
15and OEM technologies that demonstrate emission reduction
16capabilities that meet or exceed emission standards applicable

1for the vehicle's model year and weight class shall be
2acceptable. Standards requiring proper installation of
3approved conversion technologies shall be included in the
4recommended rules.
5    Notwithstanding the above, engines used in alternate fuel
6vehicles greater than 8500 pounds GVWR, whether new or
7remanufactured, shall meet the appropriate United States
8Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards at the
9time of manufacture, and if converted, shall meet the standards
10in effect at the time of conversion.
