HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Trooper
4Kyle W. Deatherage of Highland, who was killed in the line of
5duty on November 26, 2012; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage was born on April 11,
71980, in Maryville; his parents were Barry W. Sr. and April Kay
8(nee Karpowicz) Deatherage; he married his loving wife, Sarah,
9on September 16, 2006; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage moved with his family to
11St. Jacob in 1990 and graduated from Triad High School in 1998;
12he subsequently earned his associate's degree in criminal
13justice at Lewis and Clark College; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage began his career in law
15enforcement with the Staunton Police Department; he later
16worked for the Madison County Sheriff's Office from July 7,
172004 until May 28, 2009; on May 31, 2009, he became an Illinois
18State Trooper with District 18 and began serving as a motor
19officer; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage enjoyed fishing, hunting
21turkey, deer, and birds, spending time with his close friends

1and his fellow officers; he was known for always being willing
2to help; above all, he loved his children and his wife, Sarah;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage was preceded in death by
5his paternal grandfather, Ralph M. Deatherage; and his maternal
6grandparents, Casmir and Rose Anna Karpowicz; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage is survived by his wife,
8Sarah A. (nee Gregory) Deatherage; his daughter, Kaylee Ann
9Deatherage; his son, Camden Kyle Deatherage; his father, Barry
10W. Deatherage Sr.; his mother, April Kay (nee Karpowicz)
11Deatherage; his brothers, Barry W. Deatherage Jr. and Kenneth
12M. (Ashleigh) Deatherage; his sister, Anna B. Deatherage; his
13paternal grandmother, Brooksie M. (nee South) Deatherage; and
14his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gean B. and Eleanor L.
15(nee Christin) Gregory; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Trooper Kyle Deatherage's courage will be
17remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow officers,
18and all who knew him; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
22State Trooper Kyle Deatherage; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Trooper Kyle Deatherage as an
3expression of our sympathy.
