HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate James E. Mentesti on the
4occasion of his retirement after 27 years of service to the
5Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF); and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Mentesti has been helping business grow in
7Quincy and Adams County since 1986; he serves as director of
8the Rural Adams Development Corporation and is a member of the
935-county Tri-State Development Steering Committee; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Mentesti served as director of development
11for 11 years at Quincy College and was later administrative
12manager of Quintron Corporation in Quincy; he graduated from
13Quincy College with a bachelor of science degree in business
14management; and
 
15    WHEREAS, James Mentesti's major accomplishments as GREDF
16president include: the retention of Knapheide Manufacturing
17after the flood of 1993, the Teska Study for Downtown
18Development, the East Broadway Corridor Study, creation of the
19Tri-State Development Summit, several quality of life
20initiatives, creation of the Rural Adams Development
21Corporation, development of the Adams County GIS System,
22filling the Edward Schneidman Industrial Park, being named the

1Illinois Development Council Developer of the Year in 1991, and
2serving as the Illinois Development Council President from
31994-1995; and
 
4    WHEREAS, James Mentesti has worked hard to recruit
5businesses for his community, such as Blue Cross-Blue Shield,
6Wis-Pak Bottling Company, Jos. A. Bank, Cullinan Properties,
7Home Depot, Prince Agri Products, and Fitzpatrick Brothers; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Mentesti has had many community leadership
9roles, serving as charter director of the Community Foundation
10of the Quincy area, Quincy University Trustee Emeritus,
11president of the Quincy University Foundation, past president
12of the Quincy Parks Foundation, board member of the Jackson
13Lincoln Swimming Complex, past president of the First Tee of
14Great River, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Quincy, past
15president of Spring Lake Country Club, board member of the
16Quincy area Chamber of Commerce, steering committee member of
17the Salvation Army Kroc Center, and past board member of the
18Workforce Investment Board of Western Illinois; therefore, be

20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
22we congratulate James Mentesti on his service as president to
23the Great River Economic Development Foundation and his
