HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mount Prospect
4Chief of Police John Dahlberg on his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was sworn in as a Mount Prospect Police Officer
6on April 1, 1985; he was promoted to Sergeant in 1993, promoted
7to Commander in 2001, promoted to Deputy Chief in 2003; and on
8March 20, 2007, he was promoted to Chief of Police; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He received training from the Cook County
10Sheriff's Police Training Academy in 1985 and was the Class
11President; he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis
12University in 1991 and a Master of Science degree from Lewis
13University in 2007; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In addition, he received training at the
15Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Police Staff
16and Command, where he was Class President and received the
17Franklin M. Kremi Award for Leadership; he also attended the
18Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Executive
19Management Program, the Federal Bureau of Investigation
20National Academy, the Police Executive Research Program Senior
21Management for Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
22Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar; and

1    WHEREAS, He has received 8 Unit Citations and 10 Department
2Commendations; he was the Officer of the Year Runner Up in
31986, 1987, and 1988 and was the Officer of the Year in 1990;
4in 2001, he received the Cook County Sheriff's Law Enforcement
5Award of Valor in 2001; he received the Northwestern University
6Center for Public Safety Executive Leadership Award; and he
7received the Christian Life Church and College of Mount
8Prospect "Community Hero Award" in 2010; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He coordinated with the Mount Prospect Fire
10Department, local schools, summer youth programs, Special
11Olympics, landlord workshops, interfaith organizations, the
12Northwest Alliance on Domestic Violence, and other groups to
13impact issues that effected local residents; he worked with a
14variety of local groups to implement and support innovative
15activities promoting safety in Mount Prospect; and held
16one-on-one "Chat with the Chief" meetings with residents to
17hear concerns; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Chief Dahlberg on his retirement and wish him
21all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
