HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ellis A.
4Flaws, who passed away on February 19, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on March 7, 1931 in Philadelphia,
6Pennsylvania, the son of Ellis Gordon and Mary Louis Ashworth
7Flaws; he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology
8in 1953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army for 2 years;
10he was a long-time agent for State Farm Insurance; and he was
11very committed to working with the Boy Scouts; and
 
12    WHEREAS, He served as a precinct captain from 1956 until
13his passing and was elected President of the Rich Township
14Republicans for 2 terms; he was elected and served as Township
15Constable; he was elected Rich Township Highway Commissioner in
161961, and served for 2 subsequent terms; in 1989, he was
17elected Township Trustee and served 4 terms; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He was a founding member of the Crawford
19Countryside Civic Association and served as President for many
20years; and

1    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Crawford Countryside Civic
2Association, helped form the Crawford Countryside Sanitary
3District, as well as serving on the Board as Trustee and as
4President; he was an active member of the Lions Club, the
5Matteson Chamber of Commerce, the Rich Township Republican
6organization, and Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church in Oak
7Lawn; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ellis Flaws was the beloved husband of Lois M.,
9nee Kreml; the loving father of Jeffrey (Abigail DeMuth) Flaws
10and Rebecca Flaws; the cherished brother of Norma (the late
11James) Fisher, Mary (Richard) Jackson, and the late Gordon
12Flaws and Sylvia (William) Corey; and the dear uncle of W.
13David Burdett, James Fisher, Scott Wheeler, William Corey, Jodi
14Corey, Larry Corey, Peter Eichmiller, and Phil Eichmiller;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
19Ellis Flaws; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Ellis Flaws as a symbol of our
22sincere sympathy.
