HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas A. Kelley on
4the occasion of his retirement after 39 years of service with
5UPS, where he ensured the safe and timely delivery of packages
6to citizens and companies in the Chicagoland area and
7throughout the State of Illinois; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas A. Kelley began his career with UPS in
9October of 1972 as a package loader; in January of 1973, he was
10promoted to the position of part-time supervisor; in August of
111973, he was promoted to the position of full-time supervisor,
12where he remained until his retirement on February 29, 2012;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas A. Kelley trained countless new UPS
15delivery drivers throughout his career; he served as a safety
16coordinator for part of his career; he also coordinated several
17service projects for UPS employees to participate in, most
18significantly at the Hephzibah House in Oak Park; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Thomas A. Kelley married his loving wife, Mary, at
20St. Matthias Parish in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood on
21September 9, 1978; together they have four children, Tommy,
22Michael, Annie, and Colleen; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas A. Kelley served and continues to serve as
2a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Victory parish in
3Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood; he also supported his
4children in numerous sporting, academic, and social
5activities, including science fairs, basketball, football,
6tennis, cross-country, baseball, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts,
7Irish dance, and swimming; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas A. Kelley serves as a model of hard work,
9integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
10Illinois; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Thomas A. Kelley on the occasion of his
14retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years
15and rounds of golf; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Thomas A. Kelley as a symbol of our esteem and
18respect.
