HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr.
4Charles Brown, who passed away on May 18, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Brown was born on April 8, 1951, in
6Racine, Wisconsin; his parents were Manny S. Brown and Jeanne
7(Levin) Brown; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Charles Brown was elected to serve as the
9Secretary of the Board of Commissioners of the Rockford Park
10District in 2009; he served in that position from 2010 until
11his passing; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charles Brown contributed his considerable skills
13and expertise in communication; he greatly enjoyed
14representing the Rockford Park District at many of the social
15and networking events in his community; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Charles Brown was passionate about advocating the
17development of downtown Rockford; he chaired successful
18fundraising efforts for the Burpee Museum and the Discovery
19Center Museum; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Charles Brown was described by his friends and

1co-workers as a thoughtful person with a bright smile and a
2contagious enthusiasm for life; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Charles Brown was preceded in death by his wife,
4Becky; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Brown is survived by his brother, Richard;
6his four nieces and nephews; and his three stepdaughters;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr.
11Charles "Chuck" Brown; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That we remember the public service that Dr.
13Brown provided and his willingness to serve his community; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Charles Brown and the Rockford Park
17District Board as a symbol of our sincere sympathy and in
18memoriam of his selfless public service.
