HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Herman
4"Chip" Johnson, II, who passed away on July 19, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on October 21, 1967; he received
6Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at St. John AME
7Church; he was an active member of the Praise Choir and the
8Sanctuary Choir; after moving to North Carolina he became a
9member of St. Matthew AME Church in Raleigh; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He completed his education in Oak Park; he played
11violin since the third grade and played with the orchestra and
12Chamber String Ensemble in high school, traveling to Austria,
13France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland with both groups; he
14was a Beau in Mu Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha
15Fraternity's Beautillion III '85; he also participated as an
16escort in the John C. Vaughn Cotillion; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science degree in
18Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago;
19after graduation he became a candidate for officer training in
20the United States Navy; he was commissioned as an Ensign in
21September of 1998; and

1    WHEREAS, After serving in the Navy he moved to Arizona and
2received his Paralegal Assistant certification; he was
3employed with the Maricopa County District Attorney's Office;
4he later moved to Lansing, Michigan and attended school; he
5eventually moved to North Carolina and worked as a District
6Supervisor for a security firm; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Herman "Chip" Johnson, II is survived by his
8parents, Herman and Elaine; his brothers, Joseph and Ivan; his
9sisters, Pamela (Moses) Watson, Tessa, and Verna; his nephews,
10Chad and Jacob; his niece, Gabriana; and a host of family and
11friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
15Herman "Chip" Johnson, II; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Herman "Chip" Johnson, II as a
18symbol of our sincere sympathy.
