HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Army Staff Sergeant Tyler M. Martin of Littleton and
5Colchester, who passed away on July 12, 2011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was born on August 13, 1985, in
7Macomb; he graduated from Rushville High School in 2003; and
 
8    WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin entered the United States Army in
92004 and subsequently served tours of duty in Iraq and
10Afghanistan; during his stint in the military, he traveled
11throughout much of the world, having visited 15 countries
12during his tenure; one of his travel highlights was enjoying
13dinner on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower; and
 
14    WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was a member of the Industry
15Assembly of God Church; in his younger years, he was active in
16the Royal Rangers; and
 
17    WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin was an alumnus of the Illinois
18High School Rodeo and competed in the National High School
19Rodeo in 2002 and 2003 in Bareback and Saddle Bronco; he also
20loved animals, repairing and driving anything with wheels and a
21motor, and making people smile; and

1    WHEREAS, SSG Tyler Martin is survived by his parents,
2Donella (Nell) and Jurl Southerland and Mike and Marce
3McGovern; his grandparents; Don and Pat Martin, Jurl and Peggy
4Southerland, Patricia McGovern, and Don McGovern; his
5brothers, Dowell Southerland, Justin and Erica McGovern, Cody
6McGovern, and Dylan McGovern, his niece; Alexandria McGovern,
7and his many aunts and uncles; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
11United States Army Staff Sergeant Tyler M. Martin; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of SSG Tyler Martin as an expression of
15our sympathy.
