HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Robert A. Remedi was recently selected among 37
3nominees by the Illinois Community College Trustees
4Association as Illinois Teacher of the Year; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Remedi is the first-born son of Robert and
6Cheryl Remedi of Orland Park; he has 3 brothers, Steve, Brian,
7and Kevin; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert and his wife, Beth, have 2 children, Robby
9and Lindsey, and they reside in Gurnee; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert attended Moraine Valley Community College
11where he received his Associate of Science Degree in May 1988;
12he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology
13Education from Western Illinois University in May 1991, his
14Master of Science Degree in Biology from Western Illinois
15University in December 1993, and his Graduate Certificate in
16Community College Learning and Teaching from Loyola University
17in 2006; he also completed coursework at the Problem-based
18Learning Design Institute at Aurora University in July 2008;
19and; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Robert has served as Field Biologist for the U.S.
21Army Joliet Training Area, visiting lecturer at North Central

1College, part-time Biology instructor at the College of DuPage
2and Joliet Junior College, part-time Biology/Education
3instructor at Moraine Valley Community College, and full-time
4Biology instructor at Joliet Junior College, Black Hawk
5College, and the College of Lake County; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert's outstanding instruction has not been
7without professional recognition; while instructing at the
8College of Lake County, Robert was awarded the Illinois
9Community College Trustees Association Outstanding Full-time
10Faculty Award in 2011, the College of Lake County Outstanding
11Faculty Award in 2011, the National Association of Biology
12Teachers Two-Year College Biology Teaching Award in 2010, and
13the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award in 2005; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert has served as the past Chair of the
15Two-Year Section of the National Association of Biology
16Teachers and as the past President of the Illinois Association
17of Community College Biologists, has co-authored a lab book for
18Anatomy and Physiology, and is currently developing a new
19course to teach science lab skills to students underprepared
20for college science lab classes; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23we congratulate Robert A. Remedi on his professional success,

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
