SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2605/2605-96 new
50 ILCS 705/10.13 new

    Amends the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of State Police to conduct or approve a training program in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for State police officers. Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Requires the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board to conduct or approve a training program in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for law enforcement officers of local government agencies.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section
62605-96 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2605/2605-96 new)
8    Sec. 2605-96. Training; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
9(PTSD). The Department shall conduct or approve a training
10program in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for State
11police officers. The purpose of that training shall be to equip
12State police officers to identify the symptoms of PTSD and to
13respond appropriately to individuals exhibiting those
14symptoms.
 
15    Section 10. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
16adding Section 10.13 as follows:
 
17    (50 ILCS 705/10.13 new)
18    Sec. 10.13. Training; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
19(PTSD). The Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board
20shall conduct or approve a training program in Post-Traumatic
21Stress Disorder (PTSD) for law enforcement officers of local
