1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 20 19 members
9selected as follows: The Attorney General of the State of
10Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of
11Corrections, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
12Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Director of the
13Illinois Police Training Institute, the Special Agent in Charge
14of the Springfield, Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of
15Investigation, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County,
16and the following to be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or
17village presidents of Illinois municipalities, 2 Illinois
18county sheriffs from counties other than Cook County, 2
19managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 3 chiefs of municipal
20police departments in Illinois having no Superintendent of the
21Police Department on the Board, and 2 citizens of Illinois who
22shall be members of an organized enforcement officers'
23association which has no other members on the Board other than

1the chief of a municipal police department, one active member
2of a statewide association representing sheriffs, and one
3active member of a statewide association representing
4municipal police chiefs the Special Agent of the Federal Bureau
5of Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county
6sheriff or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the Governor
7shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of
8the appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years,
9and 3 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
10manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
11years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
12respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
13shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.

15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
