AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2562

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2562 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 19 members selected
9as follows: The Attorney General of the State of Illinois, the
10Director of State Police, the Director of Corrections, the
11Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff of
12Cook County, the Director of the Illinois Police Training
13Institute, the Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield,
14Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
15Executive Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education
16and the following to be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or

1village presidents of Illinois municipalities, one 2 Illinois
2county sheriff sheriffs from a county counties other than Cook
3County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 3 chiefs of
4municipal police departments in Illinois having no
5Superintendent of the Police Department on the Board, and 2
6citizens of Illinois who shall be members of an organized
7enforcement officers' association which has no other members on
8the Board other than the chief of a municipal police
9department, the Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of
10Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county sheriff
11or deputy sheriff, and one active member of a statewide
12association representing sheriffs and one active member of a
13statewide association representing municipal police chiefs,
14each to be appointed by the President of his or her respective
15association. The appointments of the Governor shall be made on
16the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of the appointments
17to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years, and 3 for 3
18years. Their successors shall be appointed in like manner for
19terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3 years
20thereafter. All members shall serve until their respective
21successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies shall be filled
22by the Governor for the unexpired terms.

24    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25becoming law.".
