SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John J. "Jack" Martin Jr., who passed
4away on December 25, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Martin Jr. was born on December 12, 1932; he
6served his country with pride and distinction as a member of
7the United States Navy for 5 years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Martin Jr. was a member of the Chicago Fire
9Department for 41 years, most recently with Engine 96; he was
10also a member of the Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2's
11Brotherhood of the Barrel and the Chicago Fire Department
12Insurance Patrol; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Martin Jr. was an avid fan of Chicago sports;
14he was well known by many as the chef of the best barbeque ribs
15in town and as the short order breakfast cook for the many
16family and friends who would show up for a chat at the kitchen
17table; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Martin Jr. was the beloved husband of 58
19years of Nancy, nee Devitt; the loving father of John (Terri),
20James (Jeanne), Joseph (Patsy), Loretta (John) Kucharski, Mary
21(Gary) Bargo, Jerry (Liz), Patricia (George) Wilson, Jason

1(Laurie), and the late Anne Deutsch; the proud grandpa and papa
2of 23; the fond brother of Robert (Kay) and the late William
3(Marge) Martin; the brother-in-law of the late Loretta Fischer,
4Mary McKevitt, Theresa Lanphier, Jack Devitt, and James
5(Dorothy) Devitt; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9his family and friends, the passing of John J. "Jack" Martin
10Jr.; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of John Martin Jr. as an expression of
13our sympathy.
