SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Jack Arnold of Waukegan, who passed away
4 on August 25, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold was born on December 9, 1921, in
6 Waukegan; his parents were Leslie V. and Iva Arvila (nee
7 Gilmore) Arnold; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold served his country with pride and
9 distinction as a member of the United States Navy during World
10 War II; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold was an avid musician; at the age of 6,
12 he stood alone with his snare drum and played to the grand
13 opening of the Historic Genesee Theatre in downtown Waukegan on
14 Christmas Day in 1927; he was a member of the Swedish Glee Club
15 and the Musicians Union; his passion was playing drums and he
16 played with many big bands over the years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold worked at Louie's Restaurant in
18 Waukegan for 55 years; he made many people laugh during his
19 years there; kids in particular enjoyed coming into the
20 restaurant and hearing his Donald Duck imitation; and

1     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold owned several greyhound racing dogs at
2 Dairyland Park in Kenosha; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold was preceded in death by his parents
4 and his sister, Marjorie Caswell; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Jack Arnold is survived by his wife, Beverly (nee
6 Beals); his children, Michael (Jane) Arnold, Patrick Arnold,
7 Debra Hanson, and Bonnie Arnold; his grandchildren, Bridget
8 Arnold, Richard Hanson, Jack Arnold, and Rachael Arnold; his
9 sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Raymond) Furlow; his nephews, Charles
10 (Tina) Caswell and Michael and Adam Furlow; and his many other
11 relatives; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Jack Arnold; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Jack Arnold as an expression of our
18 sympathy.
