SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Daniel Edward Costello Jr. of Belleville,
4 who passed away on June 20, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on April 17, 1937, in East St. Louis;
6 he lived the first 18 years of his life in East St. Louis; he
7 graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas on
8 baseball and basketball scholarships; there the "St. Mary Star"
9 met his "San Antonio Rose," Darlene Handley, and they were
10 married September 5, 1959; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He lived the next 25 years in San Antonio as a
12 devout and active member of the Catholic Church; he was
13 President and CEO of Ventura Manufacturing in the 1980s; and
 
14     WHEREAS, For the past 20 years, he lived in Belleville,
15 surrounded by his loving brothers and sisters; he was employed
16 by the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council in St. Louis,
17 Missouri; he loved a good joke and Notre Dame; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel
19 Edward and Elsie, nee Moore, Costello Sr.; and his brother,
20 Joseph Edward Costello; and

1     WHEREAS, Daniel Costello Jr. is survived by his son, Daniel
2 Martin (Alina) Costello; his two daughters, Deborah (George)
3 Gaytan and Susan Costello; his seven grandchildren, Ryan, John,
4 Ana, and Rose Costello, Audrey Gaytan, and Kaela and Kelsey
5 Lipo; his loving sisters, Delores (Julio) Gonzalez and Pat
6 Lindsay; his two brothers, Michael T. Costello and United
7 States Congressman Jerry F. (Georgia) Costello; his
8 sister-in-law, Judy Costello; and numerous nieces, nephews,
9 great-nieces and nephews, and extended family; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Daniel Costello Jr.; and
13 be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Daniel Costello Jr. as a symbol of
16 our sincere sympathy.
