SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Earl Patterson "Pat" Pitts Jr., who
4 passed away on March 8, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. was born on December 15, 1951 in
6 Waukegan; his parents were Earl Pitts and Merrol Rockingham
7 Pitts; he married his junior high school sweetheart, Rhonda
8 Evans, on March 10, 1973; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. accepted Christ at an early age at
10 First Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Cole; in
11 his later years, he re-dedicated his life to Christ and became
12 a member of Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church under the
13 leadership of Reverend Gerald Wilcoxon; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. was a lifelong resident of North
15 Chicago; he attended elementary, junior high, and high school
16 in North Chicago; after graduation, he was drafted in the
17 United States Army and received an honorable discharge; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. enjoyed drawing, working on cars,
19 racing cars, the outdoors, going on camping trips, and spending
20 time with his family; and

1     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. was preceded in death by his
2 parents; his son, Ryan Pitts; his brothers, Sam Kneeland,
3 Hornsby Kneeland, and George (GT) Kneeland; and his
4 brothers-in-law, Larry Williams and Mitchell Williams; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Earl Pitts Jr. is survived by his devoted wife of
6 36 years, Rhonda Evans Pitts; his sons, Rodney (Crystal) Pitts
7 and Marvin Johnson; his siblings, Shelley Kneeland, Dorothy
8 Lundy, Wilerma (Lola) Kneeland, Naydean (Willard) Fields, and
9 Odie Kneeland; his grandchildren, Latrell Reed, Alize' Nance,
10 Christopher, Kennedy, and Chase Pitts, Jeremiah Duty, Daquan
11 Wilson, Aryia Pitts, Danaria Lewis, DeOmber Pitts, Amiyah
12 Pitts, and Brittany Edwards; his father in-law, Aaron Evans;
13 his mother in-law, Mary Evans; his brothers-in-law, Donald
14 Evans, James (Cenie) Evans, Mark Evans, and David Logan; his
15 sisters-in-law, Haneefah (Eunice) Logan, Linda Williams, and
16 Valerie Williams; and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
17 cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
19 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
20 his family and friends, the passing of Earl Patterson "Pat"
21 Pitts Jr.; and be it further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to the family of Earl Pitts Jr. as an expression of
