SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Earl L. Wilhold of Edwardsville, who
4 passed away on January 27, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Earl L. Wilhold was born November 19, 1928, in
6 Edwardsville to the late Oliver and Elsie (Henke) Wilhold Sr.;
7 he married Virginia L. Thompson on June 20, 1948, at Eden
8 United Church of Christ, and they recently celebrated their
9 60th anniversary; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He was a retired meat cutter and manager for 49
11 years; he worked for Kroger and later retired from Schnucks; he
12 was a member of Eden United Church of Christ, where he was a
13 member of the Eden Church Counsel and the Ushering and
14 Recreation Committees; he served his country in the United
15 States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was past commander of the Edwardsville American
17 Legion Post 199, a past commander of Madison-Bond County
18 American Legion, a member of the Last Man's Club of the
19 American Legion, and served as president and secretary of the
20 Senior Golf League at the American Legion Golf Course; and he
21 was a volunteer fireman for Edwardsville Fire Department
22 Company 1; and

1     WHEREAS, His passion was for golf, and he was instrumental
2 in building the American Legion Golf Course; he ran a golf pro
3 shop in his home for 30 years; he loved square dancing and
4 round dancing with the Hoe Downers for 40 years; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Earl Wilhold is survived by his wife, Virginia;
6 his daughter, Christy (husband, John) Dorsey; his three
7 grandchildren, Rebecca "Becky" Yarbrough and her husband, Bill
8 Jr., Elizabeth "Beth" Maue and husband, Jason, and Brian Dorsey
9 and fiancee, Katie Bartels; his three great-grandchildren,
10 Brittney and Brianna Yarbrough and Gabriella "Bella" Maue; and
11 his brother, Oliver Wilhold Jr. and wife, Maxine; therefore, be
12 it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Earl Wilhold; and be it
16 further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Earl Wilhold as a symbol of our
19 sincere sympathy.
