AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3779

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3779 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Civic Center Code is amended by changing
5Section 205-45 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 200/205-45)
7    Sec. 205-45. Board of Commissioners. The governing and
8administrative body of the Authority shall be a Board of
9Commissioners consisting of 7 members to be appointed by the
10Mayor of the City of Peoria with the advice and consent of the
11City Council. Within 10 days of such appointments, the Mayor of
12the City of Peoria shall file with the City Clerk a certificate
13of appointment for each commissioner so appointed. Upon such
14filing, the persons so appointed shall constitute the Board of
15Commissioners of the Peoria Civic Center Authority and upon
16taking the oath of office as hereinafter provided shall be

1deemed to have qualified and to be empowered to exercise the
2powers and authority prescribed in this Article.
3    The initial terms of such Commissioners shall be 2 terms
4for 5 years, 2 terms for 4 years and one term for each of 3
5years, 2 years and one year respectively. The length of the
6term of the first Commissioners shall be determined by lots at
7their first meetings. The initial terms of office of
8Commissioners who are to so hold office shall continue until
9July 1, which next follows the expiration of the respective
10periods from the date of the filing of the certificate of
11appointments in the office of the City Clerk, as aforesaid, and
12until their successors are appointed and qualified by taking
13their oath of office.
14    Upon the expiration of the term of each Commissioner
15holding office on the effective date of this amendatory Act of
16the 96th General Assembly, Commissioners shall serve for a term
17of 3 years.
18    At the expiration of the term of each of the Commissioners,
19and of each succeeding Commissioner or in the event of a
20vacancy, resignation, removal or refusal to act, the Mayor of
21the City of Peoria shall appoint a Commissioner in the manner
22hereinabove provided, to hold office in the case of a vacancy
23occurring for whatever reason, for the unexpired term or in the
24case of expiration, for a term of 3 5 years, and until his or
25her successor is appointed and has qualified. Each appointment
26shall become effective upon the filing by the Mayor of a

1certificate of the appointment in the office of the City Clerk.
2Any commissioner may be appointed to succeed himself or
3herself.
4    No commissioner shall receive any compensation, whether in
5form of salary, per diem allowance or otherwise, for or in
6connection with his or her services as such commissioner. Each
7Commissioner, however, shall be entitled to reimbursement for
8any necessary expenditures in connection with the performance
9of his or her duties.

11    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.".
