SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 20/11   from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 1411

    Amends the Energy Assistance Act. Provides that if a participant in the energy assistance program resides in publicly supported housing, the compensation paid under the Act to the energy provider who supplied winter energy to the participant shall be paid on behalf of the owner of that publicly supported housing. Provides that "publicly supported housing" includes housing subsidized or developed with public funds provided under the Rental Housing Support Program Act. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Energy Assistance Act is amended by changing
5 Section 11 as follows:
 
6     (305 ILCS 20/11)  (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 1411)
7     Sec. 11. Payments to Energy Providers.
8     (a) When an energy provider supplies winter energy to a
9 participant and customer, the provider shall be compensated by
10 the State of Illinois pursuant to rules promulgated by the
11 Department.
12     (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, if a
13 participant in the energy assistance program under this Act
14 resides in publicly supported housing, the compensation paid
15 under this Act to the energy provider who supplied winter
16 energy to the participant shall be paid on behalf of the owner
17 of that publicly supported housing. For purposes of this
18 subsection, "publicly supported housing" includes, without
19 limitation, housing subsidized or developed with public funds
20 provided under the Rental Housing Support Program Act.
