HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter H.
4Shepard of Antioch, who passed away on August 13, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was born on March 6, 1935, in
6Antioch; he was the son of Hanaford E. and Elizabeth (Gaston)
7Shepard; he married Beverly J. Hampe on October 6, 1959, in
8Jennings, Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard lived in Lee Summit, Missouri for
10several years before moving back to Antioch in 1959; he
11attended the former Missouri School of Mines and later worked
12in a steel foundry; he also worked for the State of Illinois
13Department of Transportation, the Village of Antioch, the City
14of Evanston, and the Lake County Public Works; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was particularly proud of his role
16in building the Hiram Buttrick Saw Mill and establishing the
17Antioch Historical Society Building; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was a member of the United
19Methodist Church of Antioch; he was an Eagle Scout of the Boy
20Scouts of America; he served in the U.S. Army; he was a past
21president and member of the Antioch Lions Club; he was a member

1of the Tuesday night business man's golf league; he was also an
2avid fisherman and woodworker and loved to boat race with his
3son and grandson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard was preceded in death by his
5parents; his brother, Howard; and his sister, Mary; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Walter Shepard is survived by his wife, Beverly;
7his children, Kevin (Robin) Shepard, Karen Olson, Kathryn
8(Mark) Woytus, Kristopher (Jenny) Shepard, and Karla Shepard;
9and his grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, and Joshua Shepard, Leo and
10Lucas Olson, Matthew and Samantha Woytus, and Michael and
11Madison Shepard; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Walter
15H. Shepard; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Walter Shepard as an expression of
18our sympathy.
