HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael
4 "Malachy" Mannion of Chicago; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was born on September 1,
6 1925 in Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam Co. Galway, Ireland; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was the president of
8 Oakwood Builders and Glencree Builders; he was a member of the
9 Carpenters Union for 60 years; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was a founding member of
11 Gaelic Park and the Galway Fellowship Club; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was a 4th Degree member
13 of The John F. Kennedy Knights of Columbus, where his
14 leadership and know-how was always greatly appreciated and
15 recognized; he was also a member of the Harry Boland Hurling
16 Club and the Gaelic Athletic Association for over 50 years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was an usher and
18 parishioner of St. Bernadette Parish for 40 years; he and his
19 wife worked tirelessly for the Medical Missionaries of Mary
20 through their annual dinner dance and other fundraisers; and

1     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion was the beloved husband
2 of Maria (nee Taylor); the cherished father of Eileen (Mark)
3 Koller, Angela (Patrick) Collins, John (Lorraine), Adrienne
4 (Kevin) Jordan, and Michael (Michele); the loving grandfather
5 of Erin, Sean, and Brendan Koller, Caileen, Quinn, Kristen, and
6 Malachy Collins, Alyssa, Adrienne, Jacqueline, and Anne
7 Mannion, Maura, Shannon, and Patrick Jordan, and Matthew,
8 Ellen, Colin, and Aileen Mannion; the fond brother of the late
9 Christopher (the late Kitty), Gerard (the late Mary), Bridie
10 (the late Patrick) Delaney, the late Patrick (Greta), Annie
11 (Bernard) Conneely, the late Frank (Mary), Sister Eileen,
12 William (Carolann), and Kevin (Mary); and the brother-in-law of
13 Eileen (Owen) McCaul and Bernice (Patrick) Casey; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Michael "Malachy" Mannion will be remembered by
15 all who knew and loved him as a loving husband, father, and
16 grandfather, as well as a legendary figure in both Chicago and
17 American Gaeldom; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
21 Michael "Malachy" Mannion; and be it further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
