SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
65 ILCS 5/3.1-25-100 new
65 ILCS 5/6-4-7.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that individual members of the board of trustees of certain villages may not hire a separate attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from representing the member in his or her official capacity. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding
5 Sections 3.1-25-100 and 6-4-7.5 as follows:
 
6     (65 ILCS 5/3.1-25-100 new)
7     Sec. 3.1-25-100. Village trustees; attorney. One or more
8 individual members of the board of trustees of any village
9 incorporated under this Division may not hire a separate
10 attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is
11 disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from
12 representing the member in his or her official capacity.
 
13     (65 ILCS 5/6-4-7.5 new)
14     Sec. 6-4-7.5. Village trustees; attorney. One or more
15 individual members of the board of trustees of any village
16 incorporated under this Division may not hire a separate
17 attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is
18 disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from
19 representing the member in his or her official capacity.
 
20     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
