SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Gregory Joe Shinglman of Oak Park; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Gregory Joe Shinglman was born on May 9, 1948; his
5 parents were the late Helen & Willard Shinglman M.D.; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gregory Joe Shinglman graduated from Oak Park &
7 River Forest High; he attended Tulane University in New Orleans
8 and was President of Sigma Pi fraternity; he earned his B.A. at
9 the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and his J.D. in
10 1974 at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was Officer
11 of the Delta Theta Phi law fraternity; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Gregory Joe Shinglman was a practicing attorney of
13 family law and was appointed "judge" in arbitration cases; he
14 was a certified arbitrator who was often appointed as panel
15 chair for the circuit court of Cook County; he served on the
16 Panel Referral Program of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services
17 for many years; he also devoted many hours to other pro bono
18 work for those in less fortunate circumstances; he was regarded
19 as a very charitable attorney who was committed to helping
20 others; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Gregory Joe Shinglman was a member of the Oak Park

1 Harley Owners Group; he named his beloved Harley Davidson
2 sportster "Smokey Joe"; as a member, he helped raise money for
3 Little Angels, Toys for Tots, and the Green Ribbon Rally, among
4 others; he was a ham radio operator since grade school; he had
5 an interest in amateur photography since high school; he was
6 also involved with the Experimental Air Craft Association and
7 was a member of Brookfield Zoo for many years; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Gregory Joe Shinglman was the beloved husband of
9 the late Patricia; the loving father of Kristen (Daniel) Woody;
10 the dear brother of Sharon Miller; the fond uncle of Donald
11 Miller; and the fond brother-in-law of Suzanne Pierce;
12 therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Gregory Joe Shinglman;
16 and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Gregory Joe Shinglman as an
19 expression of our sympathy.
