HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gale R.
4 Williams of Murphysboro, who passed away on November 3, 2007;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams was born on August 3, 1922; his
7 parents were Denton Williams and Bertha May (Lively) Williams;
8 he married Helen R. Falkenheim on December 9, 1947 in Ava; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams served his country with bravery
10 in the United States Marine Corps during World War II; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams had a long and distinguished
12 career in public service; he served as Jackson County coroner
13 from 1956 until 1960; he also served in the Illinois House of
14 Representatives from 1960 until his retirement in 1972; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams was the owner of a successful
16 mobile home and apartment rental business and was the recipient
17 of the Man of the Year Award from the Illinois Mobile Home
18 Association in 1961; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams was a member of First Baptist
20 Church in Murphysboro, the Paul Stout Post 127 in Murphysboro,

1 the BPOE Elks in Murphysboro, Alma Lodge 497 A.F. and A.M. of
2 Steeleville, the Scottish Rites Bodies of Southern Illinois;
3 and the Ainad Shrine; he was also a member of many Republican
4 organizations and was a Jackson County chairman and
5 committeeman; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams was preceded in death by his
7 parents; his brothers, Raymond, Archie, Floyd, and Glen; and
8 his sister, Ruth Cottom; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Gale R. Williams is survived by his wife, Helen R.
10 Williams; his sisters-in-law, Peg (Cleo) McLaughlin and Jewel
11 Falkenheim; his nieces and nephews, Tom, Ron, and Greg
12 McLaughlin, Beverly Connor, Sondra Mahnken, Kevin Williams,
13 Cheryl Hagler, Brenda Faughn, Jeannee Williams, Andy Jo Tuck,
14 Fonda Rodriguez, Debbie Wright, and Kim Fehringer; and his many
15 great nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gale
19 R. Williams; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of Gale R. Williams as an expression of
22 our sympathy.
