HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Granville
4 "Mac" Warfield of Granite City, who passed away on August 21,
5 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Granville Warfield was born July 17, 1931 in
7 Granite City; he was known to most people as "Mac"; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mac Warfield was a member of St. John Lutheran
9 Church, and affiliated with numerous civic organizations; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mac Warfield first was elected to serve as Granite
11 City alderman in 1979; he also was superintendent of streets, a
12 position he held until 1991; he was re-appointed as alderman in
13 1994 and in 1995 won a bid for re-election; he resigned in 1996
14 after winning a bid for election to serve as a member of the
15 Madison County Board; he was hired by the Metro East Sanitary
16 District in 1998, and resigned as a member of the County Board;
17 then Mayor of Granite City Ron Selph re-appointed him to serve
18 on the Granite City Council and he won re-election in 1999,
19 2001, and 2005; he was also a precinct committeeman, a retired
20 steelworker from Granite City Steel, and most recently served
21 as 6th Ward alderman for Granite City; and

1     WHEREAS, Mac Warfield was the chairman of the Democratic
2 Party in Madison County from 1984 to 1988 and from 1994 until
3 his passing in 2007; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Granville "Mac" Warfield was preceded in death by
5 his parents, William W. and Estella, nee Schnettou, Warfield;
6 the passing of Granville "Mac" Warfield will be deeply felt by
7 those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Betty, nee
8 Nash, Warfield; his brothers, William Warfield and Danny
9 Warfield; his sisters, Irene Warfield and Jean Ramstack; his
10 special family friend, Sharon Perjak; and several nieces and
11 nephews; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
15 Granville "Mac" Warfield; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Granville "Mac" Warfield as a symbol
18 of our sympathy.
