HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Myron Kirby on the
4 occasion of his election to the post of State Commander of the
5 American Legion, Department of Illinois; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby received his eligibility for the
7 American Legion through his active duty training in Fort Polk,
8 Louisiana and his service in the United States Army National
9 Guard from 1971 to 1977, where he was trained in the infantry
10 and in transportation; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby is a member of the Joe Williams
12 American Legion Post 55 in Farmer City; he was signed up with
13 the post through his father-in-law, Gene Tharp, who paid his
14 dues for his first year; and
 
15     WHEREAS, As a member of Joe Williams American Legion Post
16 55, Myron Kirby has held various positions, including Post
17 Commander and Post Finance Officer; he has served the American
18 Legion's Department of Illinois at the Division and District
19 levels, and has served as Department Treasurer for 6 years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby has served on the Membership and Post
21 Activities Committee of the National American Legion and on the

1 National Finance Commission for 4 years; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby is a member of the 40/8 and is a Past
3 Chef De Gare for Voiture #238; he is a life member of the
4 AMVETS; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby has been a farmer for over 30 years;
6 he has been a board member of the Dewitt County Soil and Water
7 Conservation District for 10 years, serving as chairman for 8
8 of those years; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Myron Kirby lives on a farm in Farmer City with
10 his wife, Sandra; they have 2 children, Kay and Jason, and one
11 grandson, Logan Ashworth; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 congratulate Myron Kirby on becoming State Commander of the
15 American Legion, Department of Illinois and wish him continued
16 success and happiness in the future; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Myron Kirby as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
