HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the
5 people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
7 Representatives are pleased to honor Mr. and Mrs. John S. White
8 on the occasion of their 50 year wedding anniversary; John S.
9 White and Geraldine Bartold were married on June 29, 1957 at
10 Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, Michigan; they will
11 celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2007; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John S. White worked for Walgreens Drug Stores for
13 several years and retired from Sears; Geraldine White worked
14 for the Walgreens Accounting Office, where she retired after 27
15 years; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. John S. White lived in Fort Wayne,
17 Indiana from 1957 to 1963; they lived in Anderson, Indiana from
18 1963 to 1965; they lived in Decatur from 1965 to 1968; they
19 have lived in Danville since 1968; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. John S. White are the loving parents
21 of Michael (Kimberly) White, Brian White, and Christopher

1 (Sally) White; and they have two grandchildren, Karalee and
2 Molly; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
4 highest plateaus when a couple such as John and Geraldine
5 celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; John and Geraldine
6 stand as examples of the best of our society, and their love
7 and devotion to each other and to their family and friends
8 serve as a reminder to all that hard work, dedication, and love
9 can make a difference in today's world; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 congratulate Mr. and Mrs. John S. White on the occasion of
13 their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
14 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children,
15 grandchildren, and rich in friendships; and that we wish them
16 happiness and good health in the future; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Mr. and Mrs. John S. White as a symbol of our
19 esteem and respect.
