HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor Belinda Dalton-Russell of
4 Danville on being named a recipient of the Women of Distinction
5 Award presented by the Girl Scouts Green Meadows Council; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Women of Distinction are recognized for
7 outstanding leadership and service to their community and/or
8 profession, while serving as role models for young girls by
9 living the Girl Scout Law; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Belinda Dalton-Russell has been associate vice
11 president of student services at Danville Area Community
12 College since 2003; and
 
13     WHEREAS, She has initiated several new programs including
14 ENRICH, an outreach program to reach students from lower
15 socio-economic backgrounds, a campus-wide celebration of the
16 U.S. Constitution, and a new Associate in General Studies
17 degree; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Belinda Dalton-Russell is dedicated to reversing
19 poverty; she has donated to more than 100 colleges for
20 disadvantaged students; she has been involved in many community
21 organizations such as Head Start, the United Way, the East

1 Central Economic Development, the Community Action Agency, and
2 the Heart Association; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Belinda Dalton-Russell won an Illinois State
4 Treasurer Award, Woman to Woman-Making a Difference, in 2004;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Her co-workers and employees describe her as a
7 compassionate woman of grace and standards who is considerate
8 of everyone around her; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Belinda Dalton-Russell on being named a recipient
12 of the Women of Distinction Award presented by the Girl Scouts
13 Green Meadows Council; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Belinda Dalton-Russell as a symbol of our respect.
