SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
ILCON Art. V, Sec. 1

    Proposes to amend the Executive Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that, except in emergency situations, the Governor must reside and be present at the seat of government each day that either or both houses of the General Assembly are in session, excluding purely perfunctory session days. Effective upon being declared adopted.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6 electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7 election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of
8 this resolution a proposition to amend Section 1 of Article V
9 of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

THE EXECUTIVE

12     (ILCON Art. V, Sec. 1)
13 SECTION 1. OFFICERS
14     The Executive Branch shall include a Governor, Lieutenant
15 Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller
16 and Treasurer elected by the electors of the State. They shall
17 keep the public records and maintain a residence at the seat of
18 government during their terms of office. Except in emergency
19 situations, the Governor must reside and be present at the seat
20 of government each day that either or both houses of the
21 General Assembly are in session, excluding purely perfunctory
22 session days.

SCHEDULE
2     This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
3 declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
4 Constitutional Amendment Act.
