AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4093

 

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4093 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 

    “Section 5. The sum of  $1,900,000, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated to the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse to fund the expansion of drug school programs throughout the State of Illinois by allocating the following:

    (1) $700,000 to allow the expansion of the Cook County drug school program by providing for greater drug school staffing, drug school operational costs including but not limited to drug school teachers and expansion of drug school classroom size and treatment assessment programs.

    (2) $350,000 to be divided among 7 counties in the State of Illinois to facilitate the building of infrastructure and costs for implementation of drug schools in each of the respective counties selected by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.

    (3) $350,000 to allow community organizations to work in conjunction with the State’s Attorneys office for implementation of education workshops focused on the benefits of drug schools and the harms of drug addition and incarceration in communities most impacted by drug offense convictions.

    (4) $500,000 to establish a drug school program for juveniles in Cook County.

 

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2008.”.
